Injury scare for Shreyas Iyer? Punjab Kings captain gives update
Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer did not take the field in the second innings against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday, May 18, at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Shreyas batted in the first innings of the match and was then seen wearing a training bib for the entirety of the time Punjab were in the field.
As speculation ran rife about Shreyas' injury, the Punjab captain himself clarified the situation during the post-match presentation ceremony. Iyer wore heavy strapping on the index finger of his right hand and said he got hit during practice on Saturday, a day before the match. He added that he didn’t know exactly what had happened and would need scans to understand the injury better.
"The reason is the finger over here (pointing at his index finger on his right hand). I don't know what has happened. Yesterday while practising I got hit, I will have to go and check what the issue is," Iyer said.
